Chorus to feature American Songbook

by Barbara Ragon

Cleveland-The North Coast Men's Chorus proudly presents as a part of its 22nd season, "Too Marvelous For Words: The American Songbook."

The concerts will be performed Saturday, April 10 at 8 pm and Sunday, April 11 at 3 pm at Waetjen Auditorium at Cleveland State University.

The era of the American Songbook-the 1920s to the 1960s-produced a mountain of music that, to this day, is still being performed and enjoyed all over the world. You'll hear enduring hits from the master songwriters like "All the Things You Are,"

"Accentuate the Positive," "Too Marvelous For Words," "Steppin' Out With My Baby," a Cole Porter medley, "They Can't Take That Away From Me" plus many more memorable songs. Don't miss out on this music that has weaved itself into the American repertoire.

Join the North Coast Men's Chorus, led by music director Richard Cole, as they visit the music of longstanding life and pride that is the American Songbook. Plan now to attend "Too Marvelous For Words: The American Songbook." It's a concert that will rekindle memories of a time that was known for the singer guided by the songwriter. And, of course, because this is

the North Coast Men's Chorus, there will be fun and frolic mixed with sentimentality and warmth and a fabulous dance contest too!

Advance tickets are $10 $35. Tickets are $15 $40 at the door.

For on line reservations visit our website at www.ncmchorus.org or call 216556-0590.

Tickets may also be purchased at Big Fun on Coventry Road and Big Fun's new location on Clifton Boulevard.

Barbara Ragon is the interim executive director of the North Coast Men's Chorus.

Women's Network has full year of events

by Jan Held

Cleveland-Now thawed out, the Cleveland Women's Network has resurfaced to welcome all lesbians to another year of picnics and potlucks, holiday parties, and as the name implies, business and social networking. So, ready your Palm Pilots, Blackberries, and paper calendars, and be prepared to kick back in the months ahead.

Correction

A March 26 story about the Ohio Democratic Party's appointment of Collin Burton to head its LGBT Caucus gave an incorrect website address for the Activist Nation. The correct address is http://theactivistnation.org.

The same story also contained a sentence about the party's reluctance to make primary-election endorsements in local races that confused this with the goal of electing LGBT candidates.

"Electing LGBT candidates is completely in concert with the party's goals, otherwise, why would they have hired an LGBT Caucus director?" wrote Burton in an e-mail.

If you have any ideas for other events to slip in between the ones mentioned, please contact us at our voicemail and email listed at the end of this article.

On May 29, the Network will be having a barbecue at a member's Lakewood home. Beginning at 4 pm, this will be a potluck with some interesting twists to the event. We are capping it at 40 guests, so please call as soon as you can you don't want to miss the surprise!
